Sekilas

Kelompok Keilmuan Geofisika Terapan dan Eksplorasi memiliki beberapaanggota dengan bidang keahlian Geofisika Eksplorasi, Imaging Geophysics, Geoelektromagnetik, Geofisika Teknik & Lingkungan, dan Geofisika Terapan. Geofisika mempelajari dan mengkaji kondisi dan fenomena fisis yang terjadi pada bagian bumi padat (solid earth) mulai dari inti bumi (core) sampai kerak (crust). Pengkajian tersebut didasarkan atas penerapan hukum dan konsep fisika yang ditunjang oleh ilmu lain diantaranya: matematika, geologi dan ilmu kebumian lainnya, komputasi, dan instrumentasi. Oleh karenanya, dalam ilmu Geofisika tidak dapat dipisahkan antara aspek keilmuan dan aspek aplikasi/terapan. Geofisika yang dikembangkan dalam kelompok ini meliputi keilmuan yang mencakup: Seismologi, Geodinamika, Seismik Eksplorasi, dan Geofisika Terapan untuk menghasilkan citra bawah permukaan. Teknik Geofisika adalah ilmu yang diaplikasikan untuk mengidentifikasi serta menentukan secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif besarnya sumber daya bumi yang bermanfaat bagi manusia

Kegiatan kelompok keahlian Geofisika Terapan dan Eksplorasi mencakup beberapa hal yaitu

  1. Akuisisi Data termasuk mendisain dan melakukan pengukuran parameter geofisika.
  2. Pemrosesan Data yaitu melakukan analisa dan koreksi data serta membuat pemodelan.
  3. Interpretasi merupakan kegiatan validasi model konseptual sehingga keputusan dapat diambil bagi tindakan keteknikan yang tepat.

  • Time-lapse Micro Gravity Study in the Bandung Basin Area.

Bandung basin is the center of population at West Java and several Industrial areas are on it. In supporting its sustainability, one of the needs that must be fulfilled is water needs. The water needs are acquired by taking water directly from groundwater. Excessive extraction of groundwater tends to cause various damages, those damages can be found as groundwater scarcity and other related environmental damage such as land subsidence. Using the vertical gravity gradient technique in the Bandung basin area is expected to map the critical groundwater damage zone.

 

  • Exploring the Japan Cave in Taman Hutan Raya Djuanda, Bandung Using GPR

Investigating underground cavities is vital due to their potential for subsidence and total collapse. One of the proven geophysical methods for locating underground cavities at a shallow depth is ground penetrating radar (GPR). GPR uses contrasting dielectric permittivity, resistivity, and magnetic permeability to map the subsurface. The aim of this research is to prove that GPR can be applied to detect underground cavities in the Japan Cave of Taman Hutan Raya Djuanda, in Bandung, Indonesia.

 

  • Analysis of the potential of landslides and liquefaction due to earthquakes in the area around Bandung using geoelectric and georadar resistance data as well as laboratory data

The Bandung area is a vulnerable area of threatening natural disasters from all directions, in the form of a volcanic eruption which is still falling asleep, the threat of an earthquake or land movement from the Lembang fault, and the threat of an earthquake originating from the subduction zone in the south of Java. This research was carried out by integrating geological data, geophysical data (geoelectric resistance to the type and speed of river flows), geotechnical data (N-SPT and drill logs) and laboratory data.
