Prof. Dr. Ir. Sigit Sukmono, M.Sc.

Bio

I joint ITB as junior lecturer in 1989. My research interests are in the application of seismology for petroleum exploration and earthquake mitigation. Currently I serve as a professor in Reservoir Geophysics at ITB. I have extensive experiences providing professional consultancies and trainings in the subject of petroleum exploration and developments for Indonesia and overseas oil companies.

I am a member of Society of Exploration Geophysicist (SEG), Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA), Indonesian Association of Geologist (IAGI), Geophysical Socity of Indonesia (HAGI), Indonesian Institute of Engineer (PII).

Several awards I have obtained are: 2002- Best Research Award, Minister of Research & Technology, Indonesia; 1999-International Scientific Publication Award, Minister of Education & Culture, Indonesia; 1998-Best Research Award, Toray Science & Technology Foundation

Education

I got my IR degree in Geological Engineering from Institute of Technology Bandung, Indonesia (1987), Master of Science in Geotechnical Engineering from Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand (1992), and Doctor of Engineering Degree in Geological Engineering from Institute of Technology Bandung (1997).

Research

My research interests are in the application of seismology for petroleum exploration and earthquake mitigation.
